Woman - Leave That Man at Home and Travel!
I have met so many women over the years who say, "I'd love to travel, but my husband (or significant other) has no desire."
What are you waiting for? Do they consult you when a fishing, hunting, golfing trip is planned with the boys? I think not!
Go with a group...whether it's hiking, rafting, kayaking, trekking, painting, cooking classes, fishing, tennis camp, spas, volunteering, sightseeing....there is a group (or trip) for you. It doesn't have to be a specialized "women-only group."
Most of our group hikes, and treks, consist of women...the archaeological volunteers - women....cultural trips - again women of all ages. On my last trip, one woman's Mother was planning a trip to Croatia ( by herself) - at the age of 86!
One of my favorite true stories is about Anabelle, from Adelaide, Australia (all these "A's" would make a good song). We met Anabelle on our first "easy" trek to Nepal in the '80's. A basically unathletic person, she had always wanted to see, and trek, Nepal. Anabelle tried for years to get her husband to go with her, but he had no interest. She finally said, "Okay...then I'm going to make arrangements with a group...and go." Up until the day her plane took off for Asia, he didn't believe she would actually go ahead with her plans! But she stuck to her guns and there was Anabelle, in Nepal, on trek and having the time of her life.

We've met many women on our trips: single-by-choice; divorced; married, widowed; there with another woman-friend; mothers-and-daughters - each had a different reason and story. Perhaps, the Man, travelled a lot on business and refused to get on another plane. Perhaps, the Man, never wanted to leave America. Perhaps, the Man, was physically unable to do what the Woman wanted to do. Perhaps, the Man, had no interest in what the Woman had a desire to do. And, perhaps, the Mother/Daughter/Women Friends just liked traveling together.
I can't encourage you enough to find a group tour and get on that plane or train or bus. You will never be alone or left out of activities unless that is your preference. Women travellers are usually very kind, and happy to accommodate each other's plans. If you don't want to share a room, pay the difference for a single supplement.
Please try it....
