St. Johann di Tirol Musikfest
Today, is a huge Musik Festival commemorating and celebrating two things:
- The first celebrates the 50-year anniversary when St. Johann went from village status to town status (I guess it was an important move for them); and
- The second is a big music fest where 14 local Brass bands are judged to see who is the best in the Tirol.
There will also be a great parade with all the bands, 20 colorful floats, followed by concerts of the Oberndorf and Going Brass Bands and other musicians.

Everything starts after 10am Mass in the local St. Johann church.

Fortunately, it is a gorgeous sunny day and the streets are lined with locals walking by in their Tirol dress...(I keep waiting for Maria to burst into The Hills Are Alive With The Sound of Music...)

We spent some of the waiting time admiring the detail on a building across the street...View image... and people-watching. Each band ...View image...was followed by a float representing everyone from the ski patrol,...View image... hunters,...View image... farmers, including children riding in little goat carts...

...and many different styles of Tirol National dress...

This was an unplanned happening when we made arrangements to visit St. Johann that was so enjoyable to watch and be a part of. You never know what's going to happen...serendipity...
