« The Pension Inn Psnak | Main | Enjoying Bled »

On to Bled, Slovenia

Potato salad, cold cuts, breads, butter, homemade honey, marmalade, eggs, fruit - another gigantic breakfast with a diverse assortment of food just in case one of the "Psnak's" guests didn't care for something. This breakfast definitely filled up the hollow places in our bellies and gave plenty of reserve calories as off we went....on an absolutely gorgeous sunny day...

On the trail through Triglav National Park through the Radovna valley, making frequent stops to admire different wildflowers, look at an old sawmill and enjoy the scenery.

In 1944, two German soldiers were killed by the very active resistance in this area. The Germans demanded that the responsible persons give themselves up or face retribution. When they refused, 24 inhabitants of Radovna were burnt alive in their homes by the Germans.

Another long, hot day and finally a glimpse of Bled Castle on the hill with the unbelievably blue waters of Bled Lake spread out below it.

Bled Castle

Bled is definitely one of the most beautifully situated resort areas we've ever seen, and almost every tourist visiting Slovenia, comes to Bled. What a shock coming out of little Rudovna into this bustling tourist area.

Our Hotel Golf has an indoor/outdoor swimming pool, whirlpool, sauna, fitness center, free Internet, etc., and is a big "Miami Beach" style hotel with an amazing amount of tour groups staying here. Our room is exceptional primarily because of the gorgeous view of Bled Castle from the window. Sightseeing is definitely going to have to wait until tomorrow...flopping on the bed to enjoy this stupendous view sounds like a wonderful plan....
