Lluc to Puerto Pollenca/Port Pollensa
Our suitcases will be bused to Pollenca while we finish the last section of the GR 221.
Breakfast was better than in Port Soller: hot rolls, freshly made croissants, ham and cheese. The coffee in Port Soller was strong and muddy enough to use as grouting material. The Monastery's coffee tastes like instant dishwaster cut with chlorine. Most of our coffee-drinking group agree..."Juan Valdez", we need you!
It is raining outside...no, not raining...a downpour. The Monastery is filled with walkers, hikers and bikers and I don't know which of us has it worse. There is no choice but to put on the waterproofs and head out. The only good thing to say about the day, is a relatively short hike, 4-1/2 hours. Without rain, it would have been beautiful. Through piney forests, lots of ferns, extremely green, but lacking sun.
rain had finally stopped
wildflowers - the only spot of color
Our bus picked us up on the road, and drove to Puerto Pollenca/Port Pollensa. Sopping through and through, we couldn't enjoy the scenery until we got out of wet clothes and had a scalding bath..
Port Pollensa is located on a horseshoe bay with white sand beaches and tree-lined waterfront. A long promenade runs from the center of the resort along the bay, lined with hotels, restaurants (again "Burger King", "Ben & Jerry's") and shops. Oddly, or gladly, no nightclubs or discos at this resort.

The Hotel Daina is right on the waterfront and perfectly situated. A 3*** hotel and again we have a beautiful room overlooking the Port with all its activity.
Explored the town, looking for an internet. Found the Caramba Cafe and, of course, you sit and drink wine (or something) while waiting for a free terminal. (The only sociable thing to do!) Wine is the least expensive item in Mallorca, 2 Euros per glass including taxes. It costs more for Bottled Water. Everyone has told us to stick to bottled water, even though the water in Mallorca is chlorinated.
Then came the daily challenge, finding a restaurant that serves before 7:00pm. We ended up at El Molito (they served us at 6:30pm), a steak house that specializes in South American meat. But that is not what caught our eye...it was a 14.50 Euro menu which included VAT/Taxes. There were three choices in each category. We chose a huge tuna on lettuce salad, pork loin with baked potato and ratatouille, almond cake with ice cream, glass of wine, bread, butter and olives. A real bargain considering the price of food in Mallorca and Europe. Plus, it was very good and the service was friendly and prompt. There is no end to the amount of restaurants a person could eat at. It's just a matter of WHAT time you want to eat. They serve until 1:00am.
El Molito
Tomorrow is a free day. We may go to Alcudia....
