Just A Little More Hangzhou and Food Street, China
What else to do in Hangzhou? There were so many other sights in Hangzhou that we never got to. A hike up the bamboo-lined path at Yunqi, the Baopu Taoist Temple, the Chenhuang (Town God) Pavilion, Leifeng Pagoda built in 975 AD and collapsed in 1924 because locals stole the bricks to make magic medicine, and Yue Fei's Temple (a national hero). We always missed the timing of the Music Dancing Fountain along West Lake and never did walk across the two causeways with "lingering snow on the broken bridge."
Where to stay in Hangzhou? Hangzhou is loaded with an infinite variety of hotels and guesthouses for every price range. Sofitel Xanadu Resort, Radisson Plaza and Shangri La are just a few of the many 5*****.
We just had to go back and revisit Henfeng Street and Food Street. The three-day holiday was over and the crowds had thinned. A person could actually leisurely stroll around, visit the shops, discover quaint little alleyways....

..notice sights that weren't obvious during the May 1 holiday. For example, a teahouse trying to entice drinkers by pouring samples outside from an old tea kettle...

...and actually walk back down Food Street, look at the different choices and read the signs over each, telling a story and describing what the food actually was!

If you haven't seen enough, the cooked duck heads deserves another peek...View image...
Restaurants and bars? Italian, Indian, Chinese, Fusion, BBQ/Steak Houses, Japanese, Korean, Mexican, all the American chains (McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pizza Hut) and, are you ready for this... HOOTER'S!
We had a great three days in Hangzhou and can now understand why it's such a big Chinese tourist destination. I really think you'll have fun here and such a short distance from Shanghai, it would be a shame to come so far and not see for yourself...
Shanghai, here we come....
