Grandchild - End of Trip to Paris

The trip was over. We watched movies all the way home on United and Josh actually slept a little. Then it took ages to gather up his PSP, power adaptors, gum, magazines, and all the other necessities he couldn't travel without.

Josh was excited to see his family, tell about Paris, and hand out PRESENTS.

We saw, and did, more each day than was humanly possible, but those little legs of his, bounding up and down the stairs, and that mind that never stopped working, made it a fabulous trip.

This was something we will never forget and I know, neither will he. As Josh said, "This is Paris and I have to see everything but who knows when I'll see this again." How very true.

These are some of the experiences shared with Josh that we had never done on previous trips to Paris:

Les Invalides, Top of Eiffel Tower (ex-Marine is deathly afraid of heights), Paris Illumination at Night; Pere LaChaise Cemetery; going into too many souvenior shops to count; Napoleon Rooms and Crown Jewels Room at the Louvre; Fontainebleau; eating Gyros on a sidewalk in the Latin Quarter; and staying up WAY past our bedtime.

Very tired ex-Marine and Grandson

Josh kept a diary of his trip and made a report to his French Class. We think he learned and saw a lot that, hopefully, may influence his future interests. Reading about where the Bastille was and why the people revolted, is different from actually being in those locations. History comes alive for me in those situations as we hope it did for him. He was shy about using his French, but opened up after a few days.

France Railpass from Raileurope

If you can do it, think about taking someone you love to places other than Florida, Arizona, etc....not that there is anything wrong with those places...and travel. Kids are very adaptable and learn quickly. Just pace the trip to what they want to do and see....and hope your stamina holds out.
