David Gareja Monastery and Tbilisi
The next day was a visit to the David Gareja Monastery, revered as the holiest place in Georgia. Many faithful believe the visiting the monastery three times is equal to visiting Jerusalem. It is a cave complex, with a main monastery and 12 adjacent monasteries. There are also frescos. ( I know it's very famous but, truthfully, I can't remember a single thing about our visit there.)
BUT, I do remember Tbilisi, a charming and interesting city.
Tbilisi had ancient areas in which the houses were tilted and leaning to the side from age. The only thing saving the houses from total collapse is the fact that lean on each other......

visited a Bakery, making that delicious flat bread. We'd walk around the streets eating bread...very addictive!

The amazing National Museum, was filled with precious and unique objects of gold, weapons and household accessories starting from the Bronze Age. But is was the gold that stupified us...intricate earings and bracelets that would be fashionable today, gold goblets...one of the most unusual and interesting collections we've ever seen. Only three of our group decided to go there and it was extremely worthwhile. Go see it if you can!
Georgia is also known for Khachapuri, a cheese pie - like a pizza without the tomato sauce. One makes an entire meal and it's very good!
And there was so much more...
