Anybody interested in Albania Hiking/Trekking, July, 2010?
Albania may not be on your radar yet but it will be. A few different tour operators either are visiting Albania now, for example, Explore U.K. (check out the itinerary on the Adventure Center Finder to your left as you read this post) who has a cultural exploration of Albania. Others are working on future plans.
ex-Marine (husband, Steve) and I are currently lusting over a light-moderate hiking/trekking trip offered by KE Adventure Travel. Click on the link and you'll be able to read and see what I'm talking about. KE Adventure Travel is a highly regarded and reputable company that we've never had the pleasure of traveling with before. To answer your unspoken question, KE Adventure Travel is not giving me a commission, discount or freebie no matter how many of you decide to join Steve and myself.
We would love to sign up for the July, 2010 departure but KE Adventure Travel needs more participants before they guarantee this departure. If you are interested in trekking/hiking Albania in July, 2010, give them a call, get the details and come along with us. (We really are fun to be with despite what my adult children say!)

Why visit Albania?
- It is untouristy and untrammeled;
- Has incredible history and ruins;
- Swiss-like mountains, fields, friendly people; and
- You can even include Greece in your travel plans. Corfu is a short ferry ride from Albania.
Why in particular do I like this trip?
- It is relatively inexpensive;
- Trekking days and distances are moderate;
- Albania has my kind of terrain - no exposure according to KE Adventure Travel; and
- I don't have to sleep in tents! Guesthouses only. (I absolutely despise all that zipping and unzipping to pee during the night.)
Sign up with KE Adventure Travel and let's explore Albania together...

Comments
I'd contact and compare prices with www.outdooralbania.com before you book - they're the only such local company in Albania and come highly recommended.
Thanks, Jeff but actually KE uses Outdoor Albania! I've looked into using Outdoor Albania exclusively and it would cost more, but if this doesn't work out, Outdoor Albania it will be.

HI there.
Trekking in July in Albania is not a good idea. It is very hot and unconfortable.
you should consider May -June and September.
our company organises hiking/trekking/walking in the South Albania in the Footsteps of Lord Byron

Hi Byron,
I believe you are correct with regards to weather conditions for Southern Albania.
Northern Albania known as 'the Albanian Alps' involves walks up to 2000m so it's cooler than walking at lower elevation. Of course when it's sunny it can be warm but still a pleasant trekking temperature.
May-early June passes can still be blocked by snow. September is indeed a good time to travel to Albania which is why we have 2 departures in July and September.
Kind regards,
KE Adventure

Hi Byron,
Who is your company?

I decided against it right now because they didn't have enough people signed up for my comfort level. Got stuck two years ago on a Vietnam tour with only two other persons and none of us hit it off. A nightmare. Perhaps next year.
